Yes had the heel section, crumbled on a pair and seen others with similar problems, shame as they were comfy as!
Not just me then. Loved how comfy they were, wonder if anyone has any aged Altbergs that have sufferred the same fate?
Haven't experienced it, but I know that at least if it does happen on Altbergs, you just send them to Richmond and they replace the sole.
The Pro Boots, however, are simply notorious for it. That's why Field Textiles are selling them brand new for £15 a pair when they used to cost £120.

When I think of the number of superfeet over the years, I wished I had gone to Altberg 14 years ago

Right so Altbergs are in the post, has anyone read this article about polish? I've always used Kiwi obviously but this advises not to. Is it a pile of cr4p or sound advice?

Yeah that is one reason I chose the Altbergs - britton won't resole the boots which is not good on a perfectly serviceable boot.

boot freek?
no, not a boot freek cheeky fcuk; just have to have the right tools to do the right job. have got a pair of desert and a pair of jungle too. six pairs in total. take Combat GTX boots, only got them for the winter, could not face gore-tex in the summer months.
i am dam sure that i am not the only one on here with six pairs of boots to my name!

Jarrod, I had a pair of MTM RM Williams elastic-sided roohides which I spit-polished with Kiwi...they ended up nearly rigid; either polish buildup, the solvents drying the leather or, probably, both. RMW water-based polish (if you can get it) is easily the best I've used.
For any good boots-especially Altbergs-I would do as they suggest!

Questions are;
Are they any good for tabbing in? (both boots and socks)
Considering they'll be used 'up north', are they going to be warm or will I lose toes on stag?
Answers on a postcard please...

Is this a wah? They are called Junglies for a reason and have great big drainage holes in the side of them which will let water in as well as out! Minimal ankle support too so I wouldn't recommend them for any hard going terrain.
For junglies, if you don't get issued them then don't wear them or it makes you a jungle walt! Those who have been issued tend to only wear them around camp in this country or perhaps on exercise in the height of summer.
You don't tab in Sealskinz - you put them on over dry socks when the inside of the boot is wet. This helps dry out the boot whilst keeping your feet dry. If you tab wearing the socks then your feet will sweat and blister!
