My my, well Gents you are clearly top pf the pile yourselves and your "debate" on the merits/de-merits of what assets wil or will not be assigned to a Lt Bde in N Ireland is most thought provoking. It is however actually nothing to do with you as to which of these assets are placed under a Command relationship to HQ 19 Bde. Having served with HQ 19 Bde I know them to have been an alright bunch of staff officers and I have no reason to think otherwise of them now. Doctrinal knowledge itself is not the mark of any greatness, nor is denigrating a particular role or element of the Forces. I assume trhat you are both serving and that you are both keen members of HQ 19 Bde Staff, might I suggest therefore that you talk to each other?

Darth, Dogmonkey, apologies. I didn't mean it to descend so but some people just....

The Scotsman recently featured an article on 1SCOTS and described their future inclusion in 19 Bde as a plum role.
From all accounts in this thread it seems it will be anything but.

I am sure that they will have a good role, it seems to me that their very "lightness" suits them well for a range of roles where they can be easily be adapted to suit the mission. UK Sp to Darfur for instance?

The Light Bde - currently heavier than the Armd Bde it replaced in theatre. makes you wonder...............

It's the not yet but may soon be light bde - provided we can get some kit for it and the threat doesn't necessitate operating in increasingly well-protected (armoured) vehicles......

I presume then, they have arrived with the promised Mastiff and Bulldog?

Mate of mine was doing the upgrades on the 432 (bulldog) he said its not a bad bit of kit. Guess time will tell.

If you think about it the old 432 variants weren't that bad. I have heard that the reworked vehicles are doing just as well.

Will get the chance to run them out in BATUS on MM1 this year- looking forward to it. Will post once back (mid Jun 07)

They don't get back from TELIC until June (unless they changed the OCP and no-one told them?)
