RIP mate. Once again, we did absolutely everything we could, and I hope your family have comfort in that.

Pr!ck!

I think i'm correct that this is the current affairs, news and analysis section, not the NAAFI.

I think that a copper dying on duty does, just about rate the news these days. It doesn't have to be abou the Army to be on this site.

Go take your head for a sh!te.

But yeah, i agree that the little poem was a bit odd.

Quite possibly the most inaccurate post ever made on this site. Knobber.

Who I am isn't important (although if people really care I will tell them by PM). I am just paying my respects for PC Barker. And yes, I was at Catterick also.

And why the negativity?

Some of the comments on here make me ashamed to be serving. Black humour doesn't cut it-black humour has a time and place, amongst your mates and out of site of those it may offend. A public forum where relatives and friends may read it doesn't fit...

Got to agree with your comments mate.

I was just about to enquire as to whether there were any more jobs going as FULL TIME IGNORANT FUCKWITS, but it seems all the positions are filled.

I can see why someone such as yourself would want to enquire for such a position. I'm sure Northern Monkey will stand down soon. You can take his job as a 'FULL TIME IGNORANT FUCKWIT'.

As a retired plod, I can only but imagine what his wife and family are going through.

RIP

What a bone statement.

As a member of the Human Race, I can only but imagine what his wife and family are going through.

Why does it make it any more relevant that you are a retired copper?.

So a copper died in a flood. s*** happens. There are over 60 million people in this country, are we about to start seeing RIP threads when my Great Aunt Flo dies quietly in her sleep?

Next, we're going to start hearing about how he was the "Peoples PC".

I bet the poor cnut who drowned in tragic circumstances is cringing in his grave. I know I would be.

OK-perhaps we should stop the threads for fallen soldiers?

Pack it in-the guy was doing his duty. He deserves recognition for this. It's not only fallen soldiers...

I don't post on the threads for fallen soldiers either, because personally I feel it cringeworthy.

I'm not completely cold-hearted, I have a lot of sympathy for anyone whose life is cut short in tragic circumstances. I have even more sympathy for the people who they leave behind.

I just don't feel the need to show the world.

It wasn't too long ago when we went to funerals to lay flowers and show our grief.

Perhaps I should buy a big badge that says "HEY! I CARE!" on it.

And perhaps, if you send a PM you should await the reply?

If you don't wish to post on a 'fallen' thread don't comment either way?

Just a thought...

I cannot see the equivalence between a bobby dying in what amounts to a tragic accident, and a squaddie dying in a roadside ied/ambush, in the service of his country. Both tragic in their own ways, but just not the same. Posting an RIP thread for a copper just gives fallschirm another excuse for a cheap jibe. I think a police forum is a more appropriate place to post this thread, as no matter which ARRSE thread it was posted on, somebody would have been unable to resist having a pop, simply because it was a bobby. There's no point in losing sleep over it. I personally cannot see the point of RIP threads for either, I prefer to shed my tears in private.
