Sorry but I'm going to bite. Please do not take this weasel as an example of what the rest of the RLC are like. His peers are out on the ground doing the job the same as everyone else in theatre. However I agree that he is letting everyone down.
As a point of detail there are not 'large parts' of the RLC to return to the Engrs. Think what the 5 forming Corps are and Posties don't constitute a massive amount.
Wedge, good letter but I hope you don't mind persec going out of the window if it gets published?

Totally off subject but duty rumour is those thieving RE types are trying to pinch the ammo techs.
On subject. Glenton is a coward who doesn't care about the stop the war coalition but is just using them because he hopes he'll get a lighter sentence.

The bloke is a fucking waste of skin and shouldn't be serving anyway. He is using this protest as an attempt to mask his own failings, incompetencies and inabilities I suspect, having the "Stop the war" nutters kissing his ricker will only further convince him that he is doing the "right thing".
He should have done the "right thing" years ago, and signed off.
He should be AGAI'd to the maximum, DCM'd, sent to MCTC for the maximum, then thrown into the gutter where he belongs.
Joe Glenton, I hope you read Arrse, because you are a total and utter cowardly useless cunt.
Always the sensible voice of reason on ARRSE, aren't you Fugly.
I even read that in your voice...

It's already on a couple of people's blogs under my real name. I have nothing to hide on an issue like this - I might have only been a fair to middling soldier and a bit of a scrote to boot but I'm not a moral coward. Unlike some...

I very much doubt he would go down the Mucky Duck, or venture to stickies for fear of getting hammered all over the place.
The guy is an embarrasment to the RLC, the rank, the Army and to the country. Can't wait for his 5 minutes of fame to end, then he will realise what a dogs dick he has been.
I hope the guys at Abingdon give him a good kick in.
And, damn fine letter writing Wedge.

I watched the news earlier and I was disgusted at this individual, I hope, (although I know that he won't), gets the sentence that he deserves.

Evening mate
Voice of reason? No. You know full well I spout off regularly, but voice of reason? That all depends on what I spout is sense or not - and only the people who read it can decide that. Voice of a bloke in a position to have an opinion on a JNCO who has directly disobeyed orders? Having failed to have an utterly unsuitable JNCO disciplined because of "Duty of Care" issues, recently, I can sympathise with Glentons CoC for their inability to inhibit this wanker.

She should be wearing a yellow dress to match the colour of his spine.

That letter was written far better than a lot of so called "specialist" articles.
Brilliantly put, now lets see if the yellow, spineless piece of crap will reply. (But I am not holding my breath.)

No he's not. One of the sacrafices we make when we sign the dotted line is to surrender our right to free speech and ackowledge that we will do what the Army wants, when the Army wants (as long as it's legal).
Besides which, it has nothing to do with his opinion, and everything to do with getting out of a stretch in Colly - and milking his new found stardom for all it's worth.

DD...What a load of Gonads!! Where did you get that idea from? You show me where it states that i have given away my right to free speech, just because i signed on the dotted line? Precisely how are you going to stop him having an opinion or the right to one? When we signed up we didn't give up the right to form our own thoughts, just the right to express them openly. That was half my point, he has been badly advised by some anti war puppeteer that he can be an important figurehead in the fight against the war. All nonsense of course because he is subject to a different code than his anti war lobbyist masters. Civil law won't be relevant in this case, but QRs and the MMA will i feel encompass his crime, and he will be punished accordingly...He may of course be working his ticket and will be SNLRd soonest, to avoid any unnecessary embarrassment to the hierarchy? Either way he'll get out and disappear into the ether after his fifteen minutes of fame have passed.

That describes perfectly the vast majority of Tom's I ever met.....and that's why your letter is powerful......it's from an average soldier and, for my money, speaks for the average soldier.
Good drills.
