I see you know my dad then....and why would I need to know how to mix cement....thats what the poles are for.

Your dad has done more fiddling that fcukin Ally Bain at Hogmanay but that's by the by Very Happy . Now tell me - why do you disrespect us civvies so?

Just cos every manager in civvy life you've had has been a wnaker doesn't make all civvies bad.

Thanks for that detailed info. Obviously my ganger had it all wrong. I'll phone him and let him know. Cheers.

I don't mind admitting I was crap at labouring, only job I could get at 18 though. After inhaling too much dust through flimsy cotton masks (HSE didnt really do much for us back then) I got out and began studying.

Does that make me sound self-satisfied? Rolling Eyes

I'm pleased you got your degree, and satisfied that your qualification has served you well. But obviously not as self satisfied as you are about it. I would question whether the army would have suited you as a career, you being sooooo much more intelligent than all those who were in it? This may explain why you were refused entry, The major who thought he was more clever than you, probably was!...You absolute Throbber!
Reference your disdain for those who were on the streets of XYZ while you were at university impressing everyone with your intellect, i suggest you wind your neck in...The truth is you didn't serve did you? And as such don't have a right to comment on a subject you patently know nothing about. Had you had the opportunity to do the job then your perspective would no doubt be different...You sound very bitter about the army turning down someone obviously as "Special" as you are, but hey ho it has managed to cope without your services...Only just mind Shocked

Cry me a river. You're not going to start blubbing are you?

Listen, what part of "my father and uncle served" do you not get? How could I not respect army/navy people?

I respect them alright.

Self-satisfied? Me? Not as self-satisfied as some on this thread who think they're better than us civvies.

As for the Major being more intelligent, maybe he was, he did after all have 40 years more life experience than I did. Thanks for clearing that up though!

Reference your Father and Uncle, they were good enough you weren't! Accept it and move on...Bump this intellectual tool to the Walt and Wannabe thread someone Rolling Eyes

So wait a minute, because I am disagreeing with something you post about us civvies, and I said I went for an army interview and was rejected back in 1990, that makes me a walt?

Why should I be called a Walt? I'm happy as I am in my current line of work. I don't want to join the army thank you. And I have no khakis or anything Wink

Don't group me with the likes of Spour, Shortt and McIlwraith, I haven't pretended to be anything Rolling Eyes

your not happy though are you...you did want to join the army but just didnt make it and so you have had to settle for second best all your life, hence your attempt to get yourself in amongst it with the old and bold by joining and "contibuting" to an army themed website.

You're just one step away from the precipice of Waltdom! You used your Dads and uncles military career to justify your own existence on this thread..Then proceeded to impress us all with your intellect, by informing us all that your career was curtailed by some officer, who was obviously jealous of your mega brain?...Don't come on here bleating about what might have been...Wind your neck in!!

smartascarrots:
Managers have been my pet hate since getting out.

Unwillingness to take a decision.
Unwillingness to take responsibility for the consequences of a decision.
Inability to see the link between results obtained and resources expended - in either direction!
What seems to be a positive eagerness to be distracted from the main effort in favour of something high-profile.
An assumption that because they got a good report in their last job, they must be shit-hot and all-knowing in their new one despite this being their first exposure to the particular line of work.

I've met a fair few good ones, but for the most part I wouldn't trust them to do up their flies without holding a meeting first to ensure any blame gets spread.

Every time I hear one talking about 'mission statements' I want to beat them to death with a copy of TAM.

I remember thinking exactly that when I went into the army from civvy street. In fact, I still sometimes think that way.

Well I used my dad + uncle's military links to prove to the dipshits that I have respect for military people .... where did I mention their careers? Not that I'm supposed to talk about it, all hush hush Wink

At the age of 17 when I went for my army interview I doubt my brain could be described as "mega" by any means. But nonetheless though, apparently still more advanced than yours.

But you're right. I really am upset that I never joined the army. I really curse myself doing that degree and working in an air-con'd office with fit secretaries.

As I'm 36 now, nay 37 in 2 months, can I still join up and show the army what they have been missing? Wink Very Happy

Wait wait wait. I would not have joined in were it not for the depraved attacks on us civvies.

Don't get me wrong, there are some utter cnuts of managers out there and complete arseholes, but to tar all us civvies with the same brush and act superior while doing so.... I am sure you are on a "wah" as you say

Bask in your glow? Can I have your autograph please

We are superior. You, on the other hand, have been tested and found wanting.

Sure, if we make it to the end of our service we go back to civvy street and try to pass ourselves off as mere mortals, but whatever we may say, never imagine you could be considered our equal.

Finally, just before you go off on one, consider this: Mike Golden got further than you.

Stings, doesn't it?

Hang on boys, I think I can sum this all up for you.....

1. All soldiers good

2. All civvies bad

3. All civvies wish they were/had been soldiers.

4. All civvie managers child abusing mongs.

5. Don't tell the civvies you start on £16k with no O/T.

Simple really Wink

Squaddies are only superior when it comes to drinking each others' pish and running naked down streets for bets. I bow to your superior skills there. Apart from that you are on par with us civvies in most respects, except the 2:1 sand mix skills yada yada Wink

As for Mike Golden - jesus wept. That is one seriously obsessed cnut. I'm sorry but I'm lousy at Txt spk and as for Mike Jackson writing any commendation letters, well he probably wouldn't like the look of me either, so I'm on plums there.

If I was going to Walt, do you not think I'd call myself "Fife22Regt" or "EliteFifeForce", not "FatFifer"? Twisted Evil - and I'd get Winston Churchill himself to sign my fookin letters too Very Happy

Having said all that though, I've got a few Commando comics from my youth up the loft. If I read them back to back over the next few days do you think I could pass myself off as one of you? I have a white shirt and black trousers, I can do "security guard" no bother (JOKING) Very Happy

Fat fighter!
Look you're obviously appalled by your inadequacy and inability to get into the forces. Well don't be, it's not for everyone and it's not your fault. Some can do it and some can't. You are obviously one that can't and it's not a sin is it? Content yourself with the knowledge that you gave it a try, and were found to be buckshee by some clueless major, who has no doubt regretted this gross mistake for all these years...If you keep telling yourself this you'll be able to come to terms with it soon i'm sure, and move on with the tragedy that apparently is your life.

I suppose its true Tom, when I'm playing Call Of Duty or Flashpoint I wish that was me there, shooting Russkies and dodging lead, and drinking tankards full of piss Crying or Very sad ... I guess I am a Walt Smile
